What Jewelry has taught me about change.

I enjoy the creative aspect of jewelry making. I get the chance to change pieces and parts into something else. For a moment in time, I have control of change.

Change starts with an idea and invites you to mix and match. To be open to different colors and textures. To choose bold or rest into simple.

Change asks you not to be so ridged about one idea because another might be even more perfect. There is a satisfaction in watching something take on its own becoming.

The creative process has taught me about change.  About the frustration, the time, the complexity and the outcome. Change is constant and is the underlying current that moves us forward.

Change demands that we all become creators. We create thoughts, words and actions. We all have parts and pieces of our life we put together.

It has also taught me about the serenity of slowing down; of contemplating. To move inside and pull something forward. Those are the moments in which we choose how we will take our pieces and parts and make them something beautiful.

I have learned that change's current doesn't always throw me into the rapids; it also leads me into stillness. May change take you to all the different waters of life. May you, like me, embrace the ride.
